Allahabad has been instrumental and pioneer in evolving and developing Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine in this part of country. First International Conference on Arthroscopy was held way back in February 1985. It had many internationally renowned Arthroscopy Surgeons like Dr. Dinesh Patel from Harvard Medical School, Boston USA; Dr. Witwity from Germany; Dr. R. Subramanyam from Dallas, USA along with Dr. Anant Joshi and Dr. P. R. Vora from Mumbai.
Before the commencement of this International Conference at Allahabad, in 1983 Indian Arthroscopy Society was formed under the able guidance of Dr. Dinesh Patel and Dr. Praveen Vora. Initially it was a Society of 11 Founder Members and now it has grown upto 3000 members across India.
Arthroscopy and Allahabad has immensely established itself on tunes of National and International Arthroscopy. We have organized many National and International Conferences of Knee, Ankle and Shoulder Arthroscopy way back from its inception in this region. On the foot steps of Indian Arthroscopy Society, UP Arthroscopy Association has been formed in 2017 to disseminate the art and science of Arthroscopic Surgery amongst the young orthopaedicians of UP.
I take this opportunity to appeal the Yuva Orthopaedicians to be the member of the most dynamic subspeciality of othropaedic fraternity and make this Association at par with International Arthroscopic Societies.
